Widely if thinly distributed - males probably under recorded because of day flying habit.

Scottish Status: Now widespread especially in the E - range expansion in W but possible declining in the E  UK Status: Common
UK abundance trend shows very large increase since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 30th July to 22nd October
