Recorded only in low single figures mainly from well monitored sites and is probably under recorded because of flight period
Rosie found it not uncommon in Region 5a but scarcer in other regions and it was recorded only once at a Rothamsted site, at Reay in 1996.

UK distribution shows a small but significant increase since 1970  (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 10th September to 11th November
