Fairly common in suitable habitat, usually in small numbers but can be abundant
Scottish Status: Common - stable. UK Status: Common
UK distribution has increased and there has been a major increase in abundance since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 28th May to 13th August  (One late record on 21st August)
